The WEG WG20 Series is a high-efficiency modular industrial gear motor that integrates the drive motor and multi-stage speed-reduction gearing in a single unit, lowering output speed while boosting torque. It is available in coaxial (C), parallel-shaft (F) and right-angle helical-bevel (K) configurations with a wide choice of mounting options for direct drop-in replacement.
Die-cast aluminium or monobloc cast-iron housings deliver effective heat dissipation, and models rated up to 600 Nm are lifetime maintenance-free under standard operating conditions. The platform is compatible with wide-range multi-voltage windings and inverter operation, and supports optional brakes, encoders, forced cooling and backstops. Low-noise running and high overload resistance make the WG20 ideal for conveyors, mixers, hoists, packaging lines and other industrial machinery.
| Product Series | WG20 (C – Coaxial, F – Parallel Shaft, K – Right-Angle) |
| Rated Torque | 50 ~ 18000 Nm |
| Power Range | 0.12 – 75 kW |
| Gear Stages | 2 – 5 stages |
| Motor Efficiency Class | IE2 / IE3 / IE4 |
| Protection Class | IP55 |
| Insulation Class | Class F |
| Housing Material | Die-cast aluminium housing ≤600 Nm; monobloc cast-iron housing ≥800 Nm |
| Lubrication & Maintenance | Lifetime maintenance-free under normal operation ≤600 Nm |
| Mounting Types | Foot-mounted, flange-mounted, solid shaft, hollow shaft, shrink disc, torque arm (K-series) |
| Certifications | CE, CCC (frame size 63–90) |
| Voltage | Wide-range multi-voltage winding for global applications; inverter operation up to 460 V |
| Motor Frame Sizes | Aluminium frame: 63–200; cast-iron frame: 225–250 |
| High Efficiency | Multi-stage helical gearing delivers a wide ratio range and high transmission efficiency. By suitably lowering the peripheral speed of the input pinion and optimizing the oil fill to cut churning losses, gear life is extended. Under normal operating conditions, gear motors up to 600 Nm are lifetime maintenance-free. |
| Market Standard – Direct Drop-in Replacement | Key mounting dimensions follow common market standards, enabling direct replacement. The WG20 series is highly versatile and can be easily integrated into existing systems as a like-for-like replacement or upgrade. |
| Low Noise | WG20 gearboxes run quietly and smoothly. Near-complete in-house production ensures perfect mating of high-quality components. Precision gear design and the relatively low peripheral speed of the input pinion both reduce operating noise. |
| Robust & Reliable Housing | Units up to 600 Nm use a die-cast aluminium housing for excellent heat dissipation and light weight; sizes from 800 Nm use a monobloc cast-iron housing. Finite-element optimized tooth profiles raise the root-bending safety factor for high overload resistance and long-term stability. |
| Flexible Modularity & Global Compatibility | Modular platform supports optional spring brakes, forced cooling, encoders and backstops. Wide-range windings adapt to global voltages by re-terminating; frames ≤180 support 100 Hz inverter duty for doubled power without torque loss. Frame ≥225 uses the proven W21 cast-iron motor. |
| Convenient Selection with Digital Tools | The cat4CAD® configuration tool enables fast product selection; users can generate 2D/3D CAD drawings and PDF datasheets and export project files to simplify engineering design and quotation workflows. |
